Hello, Everyone,
Mac and I are off on one more USA trip before leaving for Guyana. We leave tomorrow [Wednesday, May 5] and will return to Cocoa on May 17. We will visit Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia. I hope to speak at the Hunter Hills church in Prattville, Alabama, on May 16. They have a member there, Pat Gregory, who may be able to help us produce a video about Guyana and the work at Guyana International Bible Institute. Of course, this is only a possibility, but if it happens it will be a super way of telling others about the open door in this Caribbean nation. The other reason for visiting Prattville is that we have a son, Keith, and daughter, Kristy, and four grandchildren there. Keith and his wife Angela have three children: Ryan, Kaylon and Corey. Kristy and her husband Kyle have the newborn Parker.
We will also visit Chattanooga, Tennessee, on May 9. My mother, Kathryn Raulston, lives there, and I want to wish her a happy Mother's Day. Two churches in Chattanooga help with the support of GIBI - East Ridge and East Brainerd. We plan to visit at least one of these congregations.
On May 12 we will be in Rome, Georgia. The Oak Hill congregation in Rome will be part of a three congregation, two Medical Mission Team, who will be working in Guyana this summer. They will be working in the communities of Kitty and North Ruimveldt. I will visit them to help coordinate their efforts in getting ready for this mission.
Last Sunday I spoke for the South 14th Street church in Leesburg, Florida. Our mission was twofold: 1) They are without a preacher and I was filling in. 2) I was trying to raise some funds to purchase medical supplies for the Medical Mission this summer. We are in need of approximately $2500 to pay for the medicines we have ordered. Kevin, our youngest son, lives in Leesburg with his wife Kelly and three children: Spenser, Falyn and Tori. He works for the Christian Home & Bible School at Mt. Dora. Twenty miles away is Mt. Dora where our second son, Kyle and his wife Tiffany live. Kyle serves as the Youth Minister at the Mt. Dora church. So there was another reason for our visit to the area.
The Mt. Dora church donated $2600 to the GIBI fund. This money will be used for a couple of special projects we are launching. The Central church in Winter Haven, Florida, also made a special contribution of $500 which we will be using to purchase some much needed video tapes for our expanded teaching efforts in Guyana. We appreciate all those who make these special contributions from time to time. Without them it would be difficult for us to ever embark on new programs. A special thank you to all!
Of course, we cannot say enough about those steadfast, loyal, dedicated and sacrificial monthly contributors who are the mainstay and backbone of this ministry. Without you we could not survive one month! That is just how important you are! We do appreciate you and we pray that God richly blesses you in every way. GIBI has lost a little support this year but the Lord has also replaced some of it. It is enough to keep us going and for that we are very grateful.
Mac and I are having a few physical problems but nothing that is keeping us down, at least not until July 27 when I am to have knee replacement surgery. I certainly am not looking forward to the surgery but I am looking forward to better mobility when it is over. The doctor said I would even be able to play golf after the surgery. That is a real surprise because I can't play much now! Please keep us in your prayers.
