Steve was in Guyana the month of January getting things ready for the teams
this summer. But also he was there finalizing Isaiah's adoption!! It's been
a long process and lots of anxious moments. But on January 25, 2000, Steve
went before the judge at the High Court of Guyana and after several minutes
of tense moments, was granted the adoption!!!!!!!!!!! The interesting point
about all of this was watching Isaiah here at home. He was so comfortable,
happy and secure. Never a worry about the whole matter. He just trusts that
his parents are taking care of him. WOW! I realized that's how we, as God's
children, should feel. Trust God is taking care of everything. BE SECURE IN
HIM!! We are so thankful to God for blessing us with this precious son we
now have. We just have to finalize the adoption Stateside now.
Now, it's almost time to head back to Guyana. We're looking forward to a
wonderful summer!
Thank you always for your interest in the work in Guyana and for your
encouragement to our family.
Love,
It seems I have a lot of catching up to do. I apologize for taking so long
to update my letter. We have recently been in the midst of lots of activity.
Our next big event was THE WEDDING! Brooke and Wayne Forde were married on
February 12, 2000. This, too, was a long process with many frustrations.
Trying to get Wayne a visa was quite a task and challenge. We thought he was
coming back with us in September of 1999, but the embassy wouldn't give him a
visa. Instead, they insisted Brooke return to the states immediately and
work on the fiancé visa paperwork. So we had to change plans and, with only
about 3 days notice, had to put her on a plane back to Arkansas. She
immediately went to the attorney and got the paperwork in motion. After
that, she was driving to Louisiana to spend some time with her aunt and
grandparents. On that trip, she was in a serious car accident. She was
sandwiched between two semis, but God spared her life. He sure showed us His
great power and control in that situation. So, as you can imagine, there was
much anxiety during the months trying to get Wayne here. But with much
prayer God worked it out for him to arrive here just a few days before
Christmas. So after a lot of quick preparations, they had a JOYOUS marriage
on Saturday, February 12th. I think with all the "trials" we'd been through
to get to that day, it just made it all the more precious. It was a
beautiful wedding and just a FUN day!!! We have pictures on this web site if
you would like to see them.
