I just didn't get around to sending out any Christmas cards this year. Having
a toddler around again, after several years without one around, has been an
adjustment... a WONDERFUL adjustment, but nonetheless some things just go
"un-done." I hope you all had a nice Christmas and will enjoy the coming of
1999!
This being our first Christmas with Isaiah was really special. He was so
much fun!! He wouldn't take out the things from his own stocking, but when
Meagan had walked off from where she'd poured hers out, Isaiah went over to
her stash and grabbed a piece of chocolate and RAN off!!! He is a real joy!
The girls are all doing real well. They are so good with Isaiah and a lot of
help, too. Brooke is a Senior this year, so we're having to think about
college around the corner. Her boyfriend, Wayne Forde, who is from Guyana, is
here visiting with us right now. He's planning to come back in the Fall and
go to college here as well. He is a great guy and we're so glad that he's
been able to come for a visit during the holidays.
Meagan is 13 years old and is the one who just "enjoys life," as she told me
when she was jumping on her bed when she was about 5 years old!!! She spends
a lot of time in Louisiana with my parents and sister when we're back in the
states. My dad's health isn't real good, and I think Meagan is just "good
therapy" for them all!! She loves being with them and is really a lot of help
to them, too.
Erin is 11 years old and is the sensitive one of the kids. She gets real
close to people real fast... which is great.........except when groups come to
Guyana for only one week and she gets attached to some of them. Seriously,
though, Erin has made some good friends in the groups that come to Guyana.
Steve's parents live close to us and Erin spends about every other weekend
with them. You get her and her Memaw together and you never know what to
expect!!
The four kids are truly a blessing to Steve and me. I'm so proud of how well
the girls all adapted to living in Guyana. We've never had any of them say
they didn't want to go. Guyana is a second home to them. They sincerely love
Guyana and the people.
Steve is getting excited about going back down to Guyana in just a few weeks.
His Dad is going to get to go with him. This will be the first trip to Guyana
that Dub has made. I know he and the Guyanese, who he will be teaching, will
all be blessed.
And as for me....I stay behind on several things, but I love being a mother
and I love the work we do in Guyana. One of the reasons I stay behind on
chores may be because I enjoy corresponding with so many people through
email!! We've gotten to know so many people with the groups that come to
Guyana, and email is the easiest way to keep up with everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to read what I wanted to share with you. Please
know that we love you.
I appreciate all the encouragement and prayers on our behalf. We have truly
been blessed !!
May God be glorified through our lives,
Colleen DeLoach
